Anna Bochkova

Anna Bochkova (*1995) is a Hamburg based visual artist whose practice moves between sculpture, installation, spatial environments and speculative world building. She explores how spaces, objects and material forms can generate alternative ways of imagining collective life.
Her work brings together architecture, fiction, social imagination and material experimentation. Bochkova creates fragile, often uncanny environments populated by sculptural figures, structures and objects. Her works engage with questions of belonging, collective memory, care, technological and social futures, and the conditions under which different forms of living together can emerge.
Working across papermâché, ceramics, textiles, metal and found materials, Bochkova develops installations in which objects become part of larger spatial and narrative constellations. Her projects often take the form of speculative environments: spaces in which political, social or emotional ideas can be experienced through the body rather than represented solely through language.
Her practice is accompanied by an active engagement with teaching, artistic research and public formats. She develops workshops and participatory projects with different communities and educational contexts, exploring how making and collective imagination can become forms of knowledge production.
Bochkova has exhibited internationally, including at Belvedere21, Vienna; Kunstverein Harburger Bahnhof, Hamburg; Eigen+Art Lab, Berlin; Kunsthaus Wien; Spazio Serra, Milan; and the Austrian Cultural Forum Rome.
