Round Table Talk with David Bily, Elka Krajewska, Gregor Neuerer, Francis Ruyter, Katharina Stiglitz and Christopher Watkins
»Where does manhood lead me«, begins a note pinned against the storefront window of Gregor Neuerer’s current installation „David" at Sussudio - Raum für Kunst, Vienna. The work re-illuminates the concept of manhood, to leave behind stereotypes in favor of complexity and fragility. »David« abandons maleness associated with fear, violence and superiority, towards an honest and yet still openly-receiving self. Pointing to David Wojnarowicz’ »Tape Journals« as well as to Davids taken from Gregor Neuerer’s personal history the installation creates a communal space embedded in language, image and intimacy. The talk will bring together multiple reflections from friends and fellow artists in affirmation of tenderness and fullness of life.
